Day Care Services
The Day Service is open 5 days a week Monday to Friday from 9.00am – 4.30 pm and is based at our Community Centre on Welbeck Road in Walker.
We offer a wide range of activities to suit individual interests. We also provide, where required, personal care. Activities include music, arts and crafts, drama, games, entertainment, exercise sessions and outings. We also offer other services such as hairdressing, aromatherapy, podiatry and nail care,
and we have regular visits and talks from, for example, health professionals, the fire service and public safety talks.
Maxine, our Kitchen Manager and her team provide marvellous home cooked meals including breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. We can also provide snacks to take home. Maxine meets regularly with service users to ensure that individual needs are met and that menus include personal favourites. We currently have a “5 Star Very Good” rating for Food Hygiene from Newcastle City Council which is the highest that can be awarded.
We have been commissioned by both Newcastle and North Tyneside Councils for many years and we also have many service users who attend privately.
Claire, our Day Care Manager, leads a team of highly trained, experienced and committed support staff, including apprentices and a group of dedicated local volunteers.
How much does it cost?
Our rates are reviewed annually by the Trustees and are kept in line with Council rates. The individual daily rate will vary dependent on whether transport to and from the centre is required and whether food is pre-paid or purchased daily. Further details are available by contacting Claire our Day Care Manager.
Want to know more?
You are very welcome to join us for a free taster day where we can show you around the centre and introduce you to staff, volunteers and current service users or alternatively Claire our Day Care Manager is happy to visit you at your home.
